Clay Casting, Delft

Invented for the precision needs of manufacturing jewellers, clock and watch makers.

The Delft Clay Method of Casting is a form of sand casting. It makes it possible
to make remarkably sharp castings of many objects in gold, silver and other metals.
After casting, the Delft clay can be re-used immediately.

The Delft Clay Method of Casting has been developed for jewellers, clock and
watch makers. It is also put into practice in model making.

As a model one can use an existing piece of jewellery, clock and watch or a
model made of hard material, like plastic, hard wax, wood, metal, stone, etc.

The Delft Clay Method of Casting is an idea by Hans Karreman, a goldsmith from Delft.
Since the eighties, Hans Karreman has been experimenting with mouldable clay.
After several years the Delft Clay Method of Casting originated from this.
This method makes it possible to cast jewellery and object in gold, silver and
other metals.

The Delft Clay is reusable and cannot dry out due to it's special composition.
For designing his jewellery clock and watch parts, the Delft Clay Method of
Casting started to play a more and more important role. It enabled him to make

Also for restoration of jewellery and objects, the Delft Clay Method of Casting
become more important.

Many jewellery and objects, which used to be cast by a professional casting company,
he could now cast in his own atelier.
The Delft Clay Method of Casting became more widely known when the pupils
